The Wells Fargo Tower Challenge
Think you can make it to the top? This year 200 climbers will have the chance to beat down gravity and race to the top of the Wells Fargo Tower. This years’ Race To The Top will take place on Saturday, May 17,2014 starting at 8:00 am.
The Tower Climb & Run event is one of the most unique athletic challenge fundraising events in all of Las Cruces and Southern New Mexico! The challenge is to either run as a competitive or non-competitive runner up the 10 Stories to the top of the Wells Fargo Tower, down and around the tower. All to assist in raising critically important funds to assist the Special Olympics. Participants may choose to go as a competitor and be timed or they may choose to participate as a non-competitor in which they will climb to the top of the Tower and not be timed. In its first year, we invite all of Las Cruces and athletes from across the State and Country to be a part of this unique event benefiting the Special Olympics & Southern NM Downs Syndrome families!
The cost to participate as either a competitive or non-competitive participant is a $25 registration fee per individual Teams registration is $100 with a minimum of 3 per team and a maximum of 5 per team (non-refundable)

The rules: Only participants, staff and volunteers are permitted in the stairwells. Participants will not be allowed to carry infants or small children during the climb. The carrying of any objects is strictly prohibited in the stairwell including, but not limited to the following:
In the stairwells turn to the right. While climbing, please pass on the left side only. Emergency Situation In the case of an emergency that may require medical attention or access to one of the building’s floors, please locate and activate a call box. Upon activation you will be directly connected to building security and medic at which time they will be able to assist you with any need that may arise.

**Participants who have not met the minimum fundraising requirement will not be permitted to participate in the event.
Individual* Award Divisions: Top 3 overall male & female;
Overall Top 3 Kids 8-12, 13-17
Fastest fire department team
Fastest Law Enforcement/Military team
Fire* Award Top 3 Full Gear
Will be clearly marked on day of event.
How are start times assigned?
Start times are assigned in the order that registrations are received.
Fire Department/Law Enformcement/Military Competitive Challenge- Teams of 3-5 firefighters, law enforcment or military, will compete for the title of the Fastest Fire Department, Law Enforcement Team & Military.
Firefighters climb in full gear (mask, boots, tank, etc.) excluding their ax. Firefighters are not required to wear their mask while climbing. Firefighters can also climb in the Individual Firefighter Challenge for the title of the Fastest Firefighter.
